Human Rights In Kashmir

EDM number 49 in 1997-98, proposed by Terry Rooney on 22/05/1997.

That this House notes the arrest and detention by Indian security forces of Yasin Malik, leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, and several members of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference; notes that this followed reports of widespread human rights abuses; welcomes the report on these abuses by Amnesty International; and demands that the Indian Government respects the spirit and word of the Jammu and Kashmir Protection of Human Rights Act.
