Establishment Of A Palestinian State

EDM number 417 in 1997-98, proposed by Richard Burden on 10/11/1997.

That this House supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state as a vital part of the solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict; believes that 80 years after the Balfour Declaration, when the British Government expressed its support for the creation of a Jewish national home in Palestine, it is time for Palestinians likewise to be given a state, thereby fulfilling their legitimate right to self-determination; and calls upon the Government to support moves towards this end.
