Conduct Of The Honourable Member For Stratford-On-avon (No. 2)
EDM number 411 in 1997-98, proposed by Peter Bradley on 06/11/1997.
That this House deplores the opposition by innuendo tactics practised by the Shadow Health Secretary, the honourable Member for Stratford-on-Avon, in calling into question on the Today programme of 6th November the propriety of the Minister for Public Health's involvement in recent decisionson tobacco advertising and Formula One motor racing; notes that the Minister had notified the Secretary of State for Health, the Permanent Secretary of the Department and the Cabinet Secretary of the details of her husband's relationship with Benetton, sought and received clearance that no conflict of interests constrained the exercise of her public duties, thus fulfilling her obligations in this matter; and calls on the honourable Member for Stratford-on-Avon to withdraw his disgraceful allegations and make a public apology to the Minister for Public Health.
This motion has been signed by a total of 52 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
