End Of Alice
EDM number 374 in 1997-98, proposed by Ronnie Campbell on 30/10/1997.
That this House notes the concern expressed by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children on the novel The End of Alice about a pervert who rapes a 12 year-old girl before stabbing her 64 times; fears that the novel could encourage paedophiles to believe their activities are acceptable and to claim that children collude with their abusers in that they somehow seduce innocent adults; calls on the publishers, Anchor, part of Transworld, to withdraw the book from sale; and asks booksellers and readers to boycott it.
This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
