Segregation Of Disabled Children In Schools

That this House welcomes the launch of the campaign by the Alliance for Inclusive Education to end compulsory segregation of disabled children and children with special needs in special schools against their wishes or those of their parents; in line with UNESCO's Salamanca statement believes that those with special needs must have access to mainstream schools; and urges the Government to review the current legislation and declare attempts by LEAs to compel pupils to attend special schools an infringement of the child's human rights.
