Abdul Onibiyo
EDM number 237 in 1997-98, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 10/07/1997.
That this House regrets the Home Secretary's recent decision to refuse entry clearance to Abdul Onibiyo previously living in this country since 1964 who, since his removal to Nigeria in 1995, has become a victim of torture and abuse and is currently in hiding in a West African country; calls on the Home Secretary to examine the detailed evidence of Abdul's traumatic experience in Nigeria prior to his recent escape; and urges that he be brought to safety in Britain as a matter of the utmost urgency in order that his entire family can be reunited, including Ade who is temporarily placed in Guyana.
