Funding Community Care For Older And Disabled People
EDM number 1716 in 1997-98, proposed by Paul Burstow on 29/10/1998.
That this House is concerned that the ending of community care special transitional grant (STG) and the earmarking of these funds for new projects will result in further cuts in services for older and disabled people; notes that, of the ú453 million increase for social services in 1999-2000, ú350 million comes from the rolling up of STG into the local government finance system; and calls on the Government urgently to review the adequacy of funding for community care before switching resources to support projects in other areas of social care.
