Railtrack And Great Western Railway Preservation Society

That this House is appalled at Railtrack's treatment of the Great Western Railway Preservation Society in abruptly terminating the lease on land occupied by the popular and successful Southall Railway Heritage Centre; notes that this termination has blighted the future of London's only railway heritage centre, jeopardised Single Regeneration Budget funding earmarked for the project and is threatening a job creating tourism initiative in this depressed area; calls on Railtrack to reconsider this ill-conceived and short-sighted decision and reinstate the lease forthwith and, failing that, calls on the Minister for Transport,the honourable Member for Hampstead and Highgate, to intervene to protect this important community asset.
