Conduct Of The Prime Minister And Parliament
EDM number 1684 in 1997-98, proposed by Crispin Blunt on 22/10/1998.
That this House condemns the abuse of Parliament by the Prime Minister when, whilst the House was debating Defence at 4.30 p.m. on Tuesday 20th October, the Prime Minister was briefing Philip Webster of The Times and other European journalists about a major change of defence policy towards the European Union; and demands that Defence Ministers make clear whether they were a party to this abuse when, despite the issue being raised by the Right honourable Member for Wealden and the honourable Member for Stratford-upon-Avon, they gave no indication that any such change in policy was contemplated during the debate in the House.
This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
