Hertfordshire And The Area Cost Adjustment
EDM number 1674 in 1997-98, proposed by Peter Lilley on 21/10/1998.
That this House notes the serious consequences for local government in Hertfordshire which would follow from the abolition of or a reduction in the area cost adjustment; in particular notes the severe pressure this would place on school budgets leading to the loss of teaching posts and a diminution in the quality of education provided for Hertfordshire school children; and urges the Government to take into account the higher cost of providing services for Hertfordshire residents.
