French Government Policy On The Multilateral Agreement On Investment Treaty
EDM number 1669 in 1997-98, proposed by Alan Simpson on 20/10/1998.
That this House congratulates the Jospin government in France for its decision not to take part in continued negotiations on the proposed MAI treaty; recognises that this has also strengthened opposition to the treaty amongst countries in the developing world; and urges all governments to develop international treaties which promote civic rights over corporate rights, sustainability over exploitation, and democratic accountability over global deregulation.
This motion has been signed by a total of 41 MPs.
