Portsmouth International Festival Of The Sea

EDM number 1646 in 1997-98, proposed by Syd Rapson on 02/09/1998.

That this House congratulates the Royal Navy, its partners and the City of Portsmouth for staging the most spectacular and successful International Festival of the Sea which confirmed Portsmouth Harbour with its Naval Base and Gosport as the best venue to celebrate Great Britain's unique maritime history; and notes consolidation of the confidence of the people of Portsmouth in the future encompassing the renaissance of the Harbour with its landmark towner standing proud as a symbol of welcome to all and a positive and progressive attitude as the United Kingdom enters the next millennium.
