Haemophilia And Hepatitis C
EDM number 1553 in 1997-98, proposed by Roger Godsiff on 14/07/1998.
That this House calls on the Government to acknowledge that over 4,800 people with Haemophilia have been infected with the hepatitis C virus as a result of National Health Service treatment with contaminated blood products, to recognise that over 90 people with haemophilia are now understood to have died from liver disease contracted as a result and to give similar financial assistance to haemophiliacs infected with HCV who currently receive no additional help as is given to those infected in the same way with HIV; and calls on the Government to meet its unequivocal moral responsibility to help sufferers of hepatitis C.
