World Cup

EDM number 1494 in 1997-98, proposed by Teddy Taylor on 01/07/1998.

That this House, which represents the whole UK, congratulates the England football team on a superb performance against one of the world's outstanding football teams particularly as they had to battle for much of the game with 10 men, but hopes that their last minute defeat will persuade supporters and commentators to remember that England has often used defeat as a stimulus to victory in the future rather than seeking comfort in identifying a scapegoat whether the referee or anyone else.

This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs.
