Incentives For Natural Compressed Gas And Lpg Fuelled Buses And Taxis
EDM number 1474 in 1997-98, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 29/06/1998.
That this House notes the increasing congestion in major towns and cities causing high levels of lead and diesel pollution in areas of dense population; and calls on the Government to give incentives to taxi companies, drivers and bus companies to convert their vehicles to use natural compressed gas or liquid propane gas instead of diesel or petrol, to set targets for the introduction of such measures in all major towns and cities in order to meet the Government's commitment to environmental improvement in those areas in which air pollution is worse and aid the Government in achieving its emission targets agreed in Kyoto.
