Conduct Of Lord Archer Of Weston-Super-mare In Respect Of Share Dealing
EDM number 1430 in 1997-98, proposed by Gordon Prentice on 15/06/1998.
That this House notes that Lord Archer has stated that the inspiration for his purchase and sale of Anglia TV shares in 1994, netting a profit of ú77,219, came from a discussion at a dinner party at the home of Sir Nicholas Lloyd; further notes that the dinner party took place on 18th January 1994, after the share transaction had taken place; notes that Lady Archer has claimed that the DTI inspectors investigating the alleged insider dealing recommended that the matter should not have been taken any further; further notes that Lord Archer claims he was interrogated for hours by the inspectors about the share transactions; and in view of these revelations calls on the President of the Board of Trade to publish the original DTI report on the share dealing and reopen the investigation.
