Schools Access Initiative
EDM number 1419 in 1997-98, proposed by Caroline Flint on 10/06/1998.
That this House welcomes the Government's allocation of ú11 million of support for the schools access initiative, set up to improve access to mainstream schools for disabled children; pays tribute to Scope and the National Union of Teachers who had the foresight in 1992 to commission the Coopers and Lybrand report which revealed the full picture of the access problems disabled children face in schools, notes that schools around the country have benefitted from the Government's expansion of the schools access initiative; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to continue in its commitment to the initiative and so enable more disabled children to receive the same quality of education as non-disabled children.
This motion has been signed by a total of 66 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
