Conduct Of The Honourable Member For Banff And Buchan
EDM number 1393 in 1997-98, proposed by Desmond Browne on 04/06/1998.
That this House calls on the honourable Member for Banff and Buchan to explain why, since he voted for the prohibition of foreign donations in this House on 31 January 1996, his party continues to make appeals for and to accept foreign donations; further to explain why representatives of the Scottish National Party stated at the Neill Committee hearings in Edinburgh that their party will continue to accept donations from any foreign national in any country around the world; notes with concern the announcement from Michael Russell, the Scottish Nationalists' Chief Executive, that the SNP intends to launch an international fundraising appeal on the World Wide Web; calls on the SNP to publish full details of their accounts as they pledged to do to a committee of this House in 1993; and believes that the Scottish Nationalists cannot be trusted to govern Scotland fairly when they are prepared to accept any foreign donations from any source, no matter how disreputable.
