Volunteers Week 1998

EDM number 1390 in 1997-98, proposed by Paul Burstow on 04/06/1998.

That this House welcomes the involvement of 250,000 people from more than 8,000 organisations in Volunteers Week; values the energy and commitment of the over 20 million people who do voluntary work every year, and the immense contribution they make to community life; and calls on the Government to propose measures to improve the status and rewards of voluntary work, raise awareness of its role, and promote voluntary organisations.
