Sanctions Against Iraq
EDM number 1359 in 1997-98, proposed by Neil Gerrard on 21/05/1998.
That this House notes with approval the recent statement by the Foreign Secretary, in response to the Indian nuclear weapons tests, that it is not proposed to withdraw aid from India, since the Government does not believe it would be right to register a protest about a decision taken at the highest levels of Indian society by taking steps that would hit the poorest in Indian society; and urges the Government to take a similar approach in relation to sanctions against Iraq.
This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs.
