Business In Sittingbourne

EDM number 1321 in 1997-98, proposed by Derek Wyatt on 13/05/1998.

That this House offers its congratulations to the town of Sittingbourne for making the Dunn and Bradstreet list of the top 190 towns and cities in which to do business in the United Kingdom for the first time; further notes its excellent situation adjacent to Sheerness Port, the fifth busiest in the country and its proximity to three motorways and its suitability as an entry port for Eurotunnel; and notes that, despite the closure of the Shell Research Centre in November 1995, its replacement, the Sittingbourne Research Centre, which began work in July 1996, has already secured 12 new companies on site, including Galleon, a BBC subsidiary employing 81 people, and, on 13 May, Mouchel, a contractor.

This motion has been signed by a total of 4 MPs.
