Growing Food In Cities And Cityharvest
EDM number 127 in 1997-98, proposed by Martyn Jones on 17/06/1997.
That this House welcomes the new CityHarvest project which aims to encourage people to grow more food, following on from last year's publication of the excellent report Growing Food in Cities jointly by SAFE Alliance and the National Food Alliance, which highlights the multiple benefits of urban food growing, demonstrating through examples that such activities can and do lead to community interaction, employment and training opportunities, enhanced education for children, a greener environment, improved public health and sustainable urban regeneration; supports the central recommendation of the report, that policy makers at all levels should be required to integrated into their work the promotion and support of urban food growing; and wishes CityHarvest every succes.
