LANCASHIRE FUSILIERS' MUSEUM

EDM number 1268 in 1997-98, proposed by David Chaytor on 29/04/1998.

That this House congratulates the staff of the Lancashire Fusiliers' Museum in Bury on the discovery of 144 letters relating to the Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaclava in 1854 and other aspects of regimental history; welcomes the decision of the Regimental Council of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers to retain a selection of these letters in Bury whilst allocating the proceeds of the sale of the others to the Museum's ú750,000 Appeal Fund; and urges all honourable Members to support the Museum's ambitious plan to relocate from the Wellington Barracks to the Castle Armoury in Bury town centre by 2000.
