Death Threat To Vincent Mckenna
EDM number 1219 in 1997-98, proposed by Harry Barnes on 07/04/1998.
That this House expresses its alarm at the continuing level of intimidation and death threats made in the name of paramilitary groups in Northern Ireland; is specifically concerned at the death threat emanating from the Provision IRA to Vincent McKenna, a former member of the Provisional IRA who has recanted, lives in Belfast and who has done much to expose that organisation's exploitation of the parades issue through the group, Charter for Change; urges Sinn Fein to use its influence with the Provisional IRA to lift this death threat; and warmly commends those human rights groups such as the Belfast-based organisation, Families Against Intimidation and Terror, and others who are doing an invaluable job in highlighting actual and threatened paramilitary intimidation and violence.
