Algeria (No. 3)
EDM number 1212 in 1997-98, proposed by Phyllis Starkey on 07/04/1998.
That this House is gravely concerned about the human rights crisis in Algeria which has resulted in an estimated 80,000 deaths since 1992; condemns the human rights abuses carried out by armed groups, government security forces and state-armed militias; believes that the first step to addressing the problem is an international investigation to determine who is responsible; and calls on the Algerian government to accept such an investigation including visits by the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and the Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Executions.
This motion has been signed by a total of 46 MPs.
