That this House condemns and deplores any suggestion that the honourable and ancient title, the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, is an anachronism; and on the contrary regards this as a unique recognition of the historic links of the City of Lancaster with Crown, Government and public service as well as being an ongoing affirmation that Lancaster is not only a city of national and international renown but is also a place of real significance at the urban and rural heart of a vibrant North West Region of the future.
