Under Age Sales
EDM number 1186 in 1997-98, proposed by Mike Hancock on 01/04/1998.
That this House welcomes and supports Government measures to tackle the sale of all age-related products to those under age, particularly those relating to the sale of alcohol; notes the range of positive voluntary measures taken by responsible groups of small schemes; draws attention to the fact that although the law as it relates to test purchases by those under age is currently very confused, the practice is on the increase; believes that local authorities would go some way towards ending the uncertainty faced by all parties, particularly by retailers; and calls on the Government to introduce legislation in this area at the earliest possible opportunity.
