That this House congratulates West Sussex County Council for carrying out an housing environmental capacity study and Horsham District Council for delivering a petition to 10 Downing Street on 31st March against the additional 12,800 houses imposed on West Sussex by the Secretary of State for the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions; condemns the Secretary of State for not taking account of the environmental capacity study; calls on the Secretary of State to reconsider his direction; and further calls on the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions to give local authorities greater powers to control the size of houses being built.
