Yorkshire And Humberside Chamber

That this House welcomes the launch by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Right honourable Member for Kingston-upon-Hull East of the Regional Chamber for Yorkshire and Humberside in a ceremony at Hull Guildhall on 27th March; congratulates Yorkshire and Humberside on being the first region in England to form a regional chamber to spearhead and promote the development into the new millennium by working together with the Regional Development Agency and the Yorkshire Assembly, representing all 22 local authorities in the region, to promote the area, to bring in investment and jobs, to encourage the development of industry, leisure, education, tourism, science and technology and all the other facilities and attractions which make Yorkshire and Humberside the best region in the country; and looks forward to the early introduction during this Parliament of an elected democratic regional government to give Yorkshire and Humberside the same democratic synergy and dynamism with which Scotland is now being endowed.
