Rebuilding Of Manchester

That this House congratulates the people of Manchester and the City Council on the progress they have made since the IRA bomb outrage of 15th June 1996; welcomes the partnership between the City Council and the business community, and their leadership in rebuilding the city centre; notes the importance of the work of the City Centre Task Force and acknowledges its success in creating a vision for the future of one of Britain's great cities; recognises the importance of the continuing support of the City Pride Partnership and in particular that of Salford City Council, Trafford Council, Tameside Council and Manchester TEC, as well as the other local authorities in Greater Manchester, throughout the North West and beyond; and applauds the character and determination of the people of Manchester demonstrated by their commitment to rebuild Manchester as a premier European city and business centre.
