Overseas Drug Donations
EDM number 11 in 1997-98, proposed by Paul Flynn on 14/05/1997.
That this House urges the government to use its influence to reduce the deaths and injuries caused by the donation of medicines to Third World and Eastern European countries; is angered by the deaths of 80 children in Haiti and 100 in Nigeria caused by contaminated cough medicines; and notes that pharmaceutical companies gain tax and other financial advantages by dumping medicinal drugs on unsophisticated communities.
