School Transport In Cheshire
EDM number 1012 in 1997-98, proposed by Nicholas Winterton on 12/03/1998.
That this House condemns Labour-controlled Cheshire County Council, with Liberal Democrat support, for their plans to withdraw free school travel for all 16 to 18 year olds in full-time secondary education in the county; expresses concern at the likely effect on low income families and on families with more than one child in the age group; and regrets that the policy would unfairly discriminate against pupils in rural areas, and those attending denominational schools.
This motion has been signed by a total of 4 MPs.
