Unsolicited Faxes
EDM number 1007 in 1997-98, proposed by Paul Burstow on 12/03/1998.
That this House notes with concern the growing number of unsolicited faxes that are being sent both to residential and business premises promoting services and conducting unofficial polls; notes that the Fax Preference Service is able to assist residential telephone customers but is unable to extend the same service to businesses; and calls on the Government to review the powers of OFTEL to ensure that the regulator has sufficient powers to protect both business and residential customers from such unwelcome and unsolicited faxes.
This motion has been signed by a total of 47 MPs.
