Bobby Moore Stadium

EDM number 94 in 1996-97, proposed by Mike Gapes on 29/10/1996.

That this House, noting the widespread appeal of football to people of all the communities throughout East London, welcomes the initiative to bid for lottery funding for a major refurbishment to the Mile End Stadium which will turn the stadium into a sports facility specialising in athletics and football of regional significance; and expresses its strong support for the initiative of local people in East London to rename the stadium the Bobby Moore Stadium, Mile End both as a tribute to the late captain of West Ham United and England, who was born in East London, and as a symbol of fair play, skill and international success.

This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs.
