Mental Health Week
EDM number 91 in 1996-97, proposed by Margaret Ewing on 29/10/1996.
That this House congratulates the Scottish Association of Mental Health and the National Association of Mental Health on their launch of Mental Health Week; notes that efforts made by statutory and voluntary organisations to highlight the needs of those suffering from mental health problems, their families and carers, and to urge greater awareness of an illness which can affect as many as one in six of the adult population; asks that the mental illness specific grant be retained, alongside sensible allocations for resource transfer and bridging finance; and further asks that every individual recognises the significance of personal, financial and educational support to those who suffer from mental illness or work in this critical sphere.
