School Children And Computers

EDM number 704 in 1996-97, proposed by John Butcher on 19/03/1997.

That this House urges the Department for Education and Employment not to permit a schoolchild to use computers until the child has attained a reading age of nine and has learnt how to add, subtract, multiply and divide at which point each child should be introduced to Information Technology and computing as a powerful tool to support learning.
