Accident And Emergency Departments
EDM number 702 in 1996-97, proposed by Andrew Mackinlay on 19/03/1997.
That this House notes the question to the Secretary of State for Health for reply on 20th March tabled by the honourable Member for Harrow East asking if he will initiate discussions between the Hospital Trust and Barnet Health Authority in order 'to co-ordinate and monitor the provision of comprehensive new casualty facilities at Edgware General Hospital, along the lines agreed in his discussions with the honourable Members for Hendon North and Harrow East'; suggests that Parliament and the public should be told with clarity and precision exactly what were the new casualty facilities 'agreed' bearing in mind many other honourable Members have had their local accident and emergency departments closed as part of the Conservative Government policies for accident and emergency departments; and is bewildered as to why the honourable Member should find it necessary to table such a question, unless of course, he now suspects tha the Secretary of State is going back on his agreement and undertakings made in respect of casualty provision at Edgware Hospital designated to get theConservative Party off the hook earlier this year.
