Countryside Undercover

That this House deplores the practices in the slaughter of pigs depicted in the Channel 4 programme Countryside Undercover shown on Wednesday 12 March; recognises that these practices are similarly deplored by reputable operators in the fresh meat industry and their representative organisations, such as the QMLA, FFMW and ABAO; and calls upon the Minister of State for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to investigate the facts behind the programme with a view to identifying and closing the abattoir depicted and taking appropriate action against those responsible for proven malpractice in its operations.
