Safe Food For Europe Campaign
EDM number 634 in 1996-97, proposed by Paul Tyler on 11/03/1997.
That this House welcomes the 'Safe Food for Europe' campaign launched by Farmers' Weekly, calling for harmonised regulation of preventative measures against the spread of bovine spongiform encephalopathy; urges the United Kingdom Government and the European Commission to insist on exactly the same standards for certified herds to be the basis for trade in beef within and into the EU; regrets the delays in coming to a common position; and urges all agriculture ministers to recognise that failure to achieve this now will threaten the integrity of the Single Market.
This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
