THREAT OF CLOSURE OF ELDERLY PEOPLE'S HOMES IN LIVERPOOL

EDM number 616 in 1996-97, proposed by Eddie Loyden on 05/03/1997.

That this House recognises the contribution and sacrifices made by the present generation of 70-80 plus year olds during the Second World War in the armed forces, the Merchant Navy and in the factories and farms of Britain; notes that the same generation living in local authority homes in Liverpool now face the threat of closure, causing grave anxiety to the residents, many of whom are frail and disabled; and calls on the Government to take immediate steps to secure the future of these homes as a way of thanking the residents for the efforts they made on behalf of future generations.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
