MERIDIAN TELEVISION 'NO CHILD OF MINE' PROGRAMME
EDM number 583 in 1996-97, proposed by David Alton on 26/02/1997.
That this House views with gravest concern the decision of Meridan Television to use a 12 year old child to act in scenes of a television documentary drama 'No Child Of Mine', broadcast on ITV depicting her direct involvement in extreme violence, sexually explicit acts and foul language; and urges Her Majesty's Government to take urgent steps to protect vulnerable schoolchildren from being exploited, abused and emotionally damaged in this manner by the media, particularly where incest, rape and prostitution are being featured.
This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
