Cultural Health Of The Nation
EDM number 58 in 1996-97, proposed by Alan Meale on 24/10/1996.
That this House considers it has a responsibility to nurture the cultural health of the nation to ensure that the quality and diversity of the nation's culture is preserved for the future; believes that the encouragement of the arts by the Government would lead to a climate of free artistic expression, experimentation, development and participation by millions of people in Britain, thus allowing a healthy, vibrant, and lively industry of arts to thrive; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to invest more public resources in the arts which both culturally and economically are one of Britain's most significant success stories.
