That this House is concerned that currently over 650,000 people in the United Kingdom suffer from dementia, a figure forecast to increase to over a million in the next 25 years; applauds the campaign of awareness recently launched by the Alzheimer's Disease Society to highlight recent advances in medical and scientific understanding of the causes of dementia; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to ensure adequate levels of funding and support for dementia research to ensure that new techniques are found to enable early diagnosis and re-monitoring of future treatments.
