Open Cast Coal Mining And Hedgerow Destruction

That this House congratulates Crusade in Conisbrough on its achievement in securing the recommendation in the Inspector's Report on the modification of the Doncaster Unitary Development Plan that the plan should include a brief reference tothe extent and importance of Inclosure Act Award hedgerows and to the powers available under that legislation and under the Environment Act 1995 to protect hedgerows; notes the support by the late honourable Member for Don Valley, Martin Redmond, for this campaign; and further notes that this recommendation will give heart to campaigners against proposed open cast mining in green belt areas the length and breadth of the country.
