EDM number 45 in 1996-97, proposed by Tom Cox on 23/10/1996.

That this House notes with concern the potential closure of the first NHS trust due to, allegedly, market forces; and that the patient's rights and wishes will not be a factor in the final outcome; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Health to utilise some of his immense bureaucratic resources at the NHS Executive Leeds to review the current absence of NHS strategic planning and to make recommendations in the interest of patients.
