That this House notes that London-based Pinkerton Consulting and Investigation Services are part of the Pinkerton Group, owned by United States-based Pinkerton Inc, one of the world's largest investigation services; notes that Reuter Textline, 22nd December 1995, reveals that Pinkerton's are providers to business clients of a full complement of security, investigation and consulting services concerning business decisions, ranging from hiring and firing to mergers, acquisitions, banking and strike planning; notes that Mr Tom Moloney, of Pinkerton Consulting, told the Daily Telegraph last year that probably 80 per cent. of his organisation's work concerned microphones linked to short-range radio transmitters and that his firm also dealt with counter-surveillance involving directional microphones, microwave and infra-red type systems that can pick up vibrations off window panes; notes that it was claimed that his company was part of a network of 230 offices worldwide, counting 50 per cent. of the FTSE-100 and US Fortune-100 companies as clients; notes Pinkerton's recent alliance with SAIC, whose key expertise is reportedly electronic information security, Reuter Textline, 9th September 1996; notes Pinkerton's recent commissioning, for personal safety and asset protection, by CIGNA International Speciality Products and Services, who, according to Reuter Textline, 7th May 1996, provide clients worldwide with services covering areas such as sabotage, terrorism, rebellion, insurrection and related risks; and calls on Pinkerton Consulting and Investigating Services to reveal the names of its United Kingdom and United States clients who used Pinkerton's on-line data resources on 6th February 1996 to search data on the Member for Workington during the period of a parli amentary campaign.
