Funding For Ards, Bangor And Ulster Hospitals
EDM number 427 in 1996-97, proposed by John D Taylor on 21/01/1997.
That this House notes that the Ulster, North Down and Ards Hospitals Trust provides a service for the people of Ards, Castlereagh, North Down and East Belfast, that the trust provides almost identical services to those of the Belfast City Hospital Trust and that the Eastern Area Health Board, appointed and approved by the Minister of Health and Social Services, allocates ú87 million to the Belfast City Hospital Trust and only ú57 million to the Ulster, North Down and Ards Hospital Trust for identical capacity and services; and condemns both the area board and the Minister for this imbalance of funding which discriminates against the ever-increasing population of Ards, North Down, Castlereagh and East Belfast.
