British Airways And Staff Remuneration

EDM number 408 in 1996-97, proposed by Nicholas Winterton on 16/01/1997.

That this House congratulates British Airways plc on its continuing success in international markets; notes that this success in large part derives from the high levels of professionalism and commitment to customer service displayed by all its employees; believes that the staff of British Airways Regional based at Manchester Airport should have the right of equal treatment with Heathrow based staff; and invites the management of British Airways Regional to withdraw proposals for pay freezes and real term reductions in pay for staff and instead to continue to negotiate with employee representatives with a view to achieving greater efficiency of service delivery and cost reduction by enhancing productivity as the airline continues to expand.
