DUKE OF EDINBURGH'S AWARD SCHEME AND HANDGUNS
EDM number 402 in 1996-97, proposed by Michael Clapham on 15/01/1997.
That this House is concerned that, in spite of the public outcry following the Dunblane tragedy, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme still offers a handgun option for young people; and calls on the organisers to replace it with another activity that is equally challenging, more conducive to char acter building, appropriate to the objectives of the scheme and in accord with the public interest.
This motion has been signed by a total of 55 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
