Hepatitis C Victims

EDM number 39 in 1996-97, proposed by Tom Cox on 23/10/1996.

That this House is deeply saddened by the Government's callous treatment of hepatitis C victims; calls upon the Secretary of State for Health to fund compensation for them by suspending payments to chairmen and non-executive directors of NHS trusts and authorities otherwise than for genuine loss of earnings; and notes that the Chairman of Doncaster Health Authority disclosed some non-executive directors had been paid ú5,000 per annum for as few as two attendances.
